Welcome to our Out-of-Agency visitors,
PowerPoint Tour of the Internal Web Page
You are probably here for the training materials, and you are welcome to use any of the modules, presentations, and handout materials we have. Our only request is that you do not copy this material for purposes of selling it. There are many other parts to our internal web page including our policies, procedures, and forms. You are also welcome to take and modify any of this material if it will benefit you.
Some links of our web page will only work if you have PowerPoint on your computer, such as our Agency Calendar and the PowerPoint Tour of the Internal Web Page.
Training Materials:
There are three primary areas of our training materials. One would be the Head Start Standards. Temporary Notice: The "Head Start Standards" link will not work until after the new standards, which will be a result of the Head Start Authorization Act of December 2007, have been published. The Training Department will create a new set of training modules based upon the new standards, and make available the various tests and test banks.
Another large area of our training materials would include a variety of training modules that include training in subjects from Civil Rights to Stress Management. This area is always expanding to include new modules. All of these training modules (as well as the Head Start Standards training modules) are available as online training to HSGD staff. Anyone can do an online module but the results will not go anywhere because our servers will screen them out. However, someone outside our agency can get their results validated with the online modules. (Take one, click "Send", and see what happens.)
All of the online modules are also available in two paper formats. These paper formats are identical to the online versions. One paper format has the test answers at the end of the module and the other format does not. For the format that does not include the answers, there is an answer page that can be printed.
If you would like to make the online modules applicable to your facility or agency you are welcome to copy the code for any of these modules. If you do this you will need to modify some of the form properties (JavaScript), and you will need the “.js” validity programming. If you or someone you know will contact Tim Devaney, he will give instructions on how to adjust the form properties and will email the validity programs to all the modules you request. Once this is done you can forward the results to any online computer you would like. A note of caution - Tim might find it very difficult to give instructions to someone who has no knowledge of some basic programming, such as HTML. Also available to you is an instructional package that tells you how to make any of these online modules work for you - click Adjusting Online Modules.
If you do not have the capability to do the programming changes, but would like to have these modules available to your computer, HSGD will do this for you, but will have to charge you for the time and effort. This can be rather time consuming.
The third area of materials, called Learning Tools, consists of a variety of PowerPoint presentations and handouts that have been used by a number of instructors. Almost anything sent to us is posted on this list, so we make no guarantee as to the quality of this material. Some of it is very good and some not so good. Check it out and see what works for you.
Policies and Procedures:
This information is contained in several areas of the Internal Web Page. Most operational policies and procedures are found in the Human Resources box, and then click on Handbook. Policies and procedures related to Training are located on the Training Web Page and then click Handbook. Likewise, specifics related to content areas and other departments can be found by going to that area of the Internal web page.
